A cabin should feel like it has always been there.

We design each one around the garden it sits in: the light, the trees, the view back to the house. Then we build it properly, with the same care you would expect of the house itself.

Considered design

Proportions, glazing and materials chosen for your plot, not picked from a catalogue.

One team, start to finish

Groundworks, carpentry, electrics and plumbing under one roof and one fixed price.

Engineered to last

C24 structural timber, high-performance insulation and a certified electrical installation.

The collection

Four ways to begin

Each design is a starting point. Choose the closest, then tailor every detail in the price builder.

Images show illustrative designs. Every Valley Forge cabin is built to order for its garden.

Do I need planning permission?

Usually not. A garden building is normally permitted development if it’s single storey, used for something incidental to the house (a study, gym or studio, not a bedroom), and no taller than 2.5 m within 2 m of a boundary. Listed buildings, conservation areas and front gardens have tighter rules. We check on the consultation and manage any application.

What about Building Regulations?

Under 15 m² with no sleeping accommodation is generally exempt. Between 15 and 30 m² it’s usually exempt if at least 1 m from the boundary or built from non-combustible materials. Anything with a bedroom, or over 30 m², needs approval. The electrical work is always notified and certified.

Ground screws or a concrete slab?

Ground screws go in within a day, leave no concrete and suit most lawns and slopes. A slab suits soft ground and larger lodges. We recommend one after seeing your soil and levels.

How long does it take?

Most cabins take one to two weeks on site. The price builder shows an estimate as you change size and specification. Glazing lead times usually set the start date.

Can it be used all year round?

Yes. Floor, walls and roof are insulated as standard, glazing is double-glazed and toughened, and you can choose panel heating or air conditioning that heats and cools.

Can guests sleep in it?

A garden building used as a bedroom or guest annexe isn’t permitted development, so it normally needs planning permission and full Building Regulations approval. We prepare the drawings and manage both applications; fees are added to your fixed price after the consultation.

How do payments work?

40% when you place the order, 30% once the frame and first-fix services are in, 25% after second fix, and the final 5% once everything is tested and handed over.

What guarantee do I get?

Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from handover, and the doors, windows, heaters and other products carry their manufacturers’ warranties. The electrical installation is certified and notified as an NICEIC approved contractor.

How accurate is the online price?

It’s built from the same rates we quote with, so it’s close, but it can’t see your garden. Access, ground conditions, the distance back to the house and where your drains run can all move it. Your fixed price follows the consultation.
